"Only he whose deeds are evil is afraid of Christmas."

Warned, am I

Heh. Got to love Mike's bestowing of excellent links. It's been a while since I dared the MeFi waters, but that seems one of the tamer discussions I've seen there.

It's lucky I only have evil intents and not deeds, so that I need not fear Xmas. :)
Sometimes not even then.

I mean, coal? "Oh no! I got coal as a gift! That's so much worse than... nothing at all! Hey, I'll throw it in the fire and get some free heat! Thanks, Santa Jerk!"

If Santa really wanted to throw some fear into the kids he'd be more like Sinterklaas. Beatings, kidnappings and baffling racial symbolism for all!

Who thought that one up?

When I was little they said bad kids got switches, thus a morning beating, but everybody got an orange, candy (esp. canes & chocolate coins) & a small toy in their stockings no matter how rotten. I never really got Santa anyway, but maybe I'll torture my own kids with it.

My husband's cousins have a Christmas Eve fairy that rings a bell when it delivers the big present during Mom & Dad's party. Very odd to watch a 23-year-old go through this. Especially since he got a freakin' AUDI and his Mom apologized they didn't get his first choice car. At least he had to give his Dad back the classic Porsche.
