"Oxygen bars....catch on" fire? Oxygen is highly flammable, after all. That's all I could think of.

Very bad pun there, Jos... Kudos to you to come up with it.

Oxygen bars seem really dangerous to me. I hope it's a trend that doesn't catch on.

Well, Montygirl, I don't know how much of an opportunity that I had. All the seats were filled & I had other things I wanted to do. ;-}

Arlene, so what you're saying is that although you had the opportunity, you didn't inhale?

I knew Charlotte wasn't in NC. This is just another piece of evidence to prove it.

I'm pretty sure they've got a permanent oxygen bar in the Charlotte, NC airport...

I had heard of them, in LA or something & never expected to see one, much less one at the NC State Fair.

I got such a shock when I found an oxygen bar at the State Fair (NC, that is). I was on the ferris wheel & while looking around...there it was. They had some essential oils or something for different aromas. I just looked, I did not sample.

Oxygen does cause a mild euphoria... Refer to the scene in Fight Club where Brad Pitt and Edward Norton sit in the plane and meet for the first time.

I have heard of oxygen bars which use essential oils to enhance the relaxation effect of the oxygen. I of course find this a load of hogwash... personnally I like to relax by thinning my oxygen - preferably over 10000 feet and after a long walk uphill.

...these oxygen bars...does the oxygen contain any *ahem* "interesting impurities"??

Or you could just make a trip to one of Berkeley's oxygen bars... nothing like pure oxygen to help you relax. Heh.

Maybe they should pump in pure oxygen to help keep you awake. I know they ought to do it in some of the CS classrooms here at Rolla (where the Computer Science building is called just that, although it used to be the Math and Computer Science building, but Math hasn't been there for a while, and they finally changed it).

Soda Hall is the ubergeek breeding ground. I've never been in there myself, but it's the base of operations for the Computer Science department. It's also open 24/7 so people can work on their projects on the computers in the basement. I hear that, just like casinos, there are no clocks in the computer rooms.

Archived comment by Arlene:
But freedom from one hell often leads to entrance to another hell (the aforementioned cube farm), retail hell, etc.
