That is an amazing add for a movie. I hope the movie is just as good.

Memento made me doubt my memory for a while (or at least seriously analyze its sources.) Fantastic movie, but a word of advice for people who are sensitive to wierd or disturbing movies: see it with someone so you can talk about it afterwards!

Maybe "vad" means something in another language. : )

As the President said in "Mars Attacks": "Can't we all just... get along?"
Of course, that was when the Martians zapped everyone.

Yesterday, a friend of mine was talking about how good Momento was, and she said that as she was leaving the theatre she overheard two little old ladies saying:

"Well, the main character certainly wasn't vad looking."
"I think the whole movie would have been better if he'd been in his underwear the entire time."

I wasn't sure whether to add it to this thread or the thread about little old ladies saying weird things.

just for an outsider point of view:
I read sometime ago in In Passing that lots of American do not even want to travel around the world just because there is so much things to be seen in USA... considering that even your new president never went abroad a lot, it is not giving a Open Minded idea of Americans...
OK on the other point of view, we have smelly cheeses, Mad Cow disease and our president is testing Nuclear weapons in other countries...
Let s just say nobody is perfect and by meeting each other (not from movies !), you can get to appreciate other cultures !

What good is it to be hard working while still
arrogant and stupid? To be wealthy and hard
working is pretty bad too; when I suddenly become
wealthy (by means of an inheritance from a distant
relative), I will definitely renounce hard work (I
might not vacation in France however). To be
stupid and work hard anyways is wasteful,
especially for Americans, because America is a
great place to be stupid, ignorant, and lazy all
in conjunction. I suppose, that the best way to
live in America would be to be stupid, arrogant,
ignorant, wealthy, and lazy. Ahh, yes, the
American dream...

I've always liked the "typical American" type characters in anime- big, stupid, blond, and always thinking that the best solution to the problem is to nuke it.

I'm definitely not what you'd call aggressively patriotic; I wasn't even born in the US, actually, and I'm not even going to get into any political commentary... :P But. To address the comment of America being the country that doesn't give a fsck, I feel the need to post this link. I'd link to the original that snopes references, but that host seems to be down, so you just get the snopes page itself instead.

And on the quote... I have a number of friends, but they're not THAT close! ;)

I wonder, do non-Americans see the USA as the #1 world superpower of the earth the same way we do?

As spoken from a non-American:

"American - The nation that doesn't give a f*ck."

Really.

You know, when we think of French people, we think romantic, smooth, etc...
When we think of Chinese and Japanese people, we think really smart, techno-hip, etc...
What do people around the world think of when they consider Americans?
- Wealthy
- Arrogant
- Stupid

Fortunately, in addition to agreeing with me, my friend from France added that they seem to view us a hard workers. That's a plus.

Memento was an awsome movie. Go check it out. I'd spoil the ending for you.... but it doesn't matter.... ;) Go see the movie, and you'll figure it out.

On a private notion, Frenchies aren't really that giving.

There was another, more risque link I considered, but this is a family place (kinda), after all.

Whoa.

Everybody do yourselves a favor (when you have 10 minutes in front of a computer with speakers) and open the "Memento" site link.

On a more related note, something tells me the guy speaking didn't get the irony. Captain Obvious to the rescue!
