"And people are always pointing at the dish and saying, 'Is that the color my hair is going to be? It's the color of Gwen Stefani's hair.' And I say, 'No, that is the color of cake frosting. Your hair will be a lovely red once this oxidizes, so shut up while I frost you.' Oh, that last part was to them, not to you, dear."

I HAVE Gwen Stefani's hair colour. And I agree, it does work for her. Fortunately, it also works for me.

Metallic hair? And I thought my hair was annoying to clean... "Damn, I hate cutting my hands while washing my hair..."

Joe, I think the cake frosting color refers to the stuff they put in your hair. Rather like house paint - you look at paint chips(don't eat them) to see the *actual dried color*, not at the color of the paint on the brush.

I think Gwen Stefani's hair color works for her.

Hmm, it makes me think of metal (probably because I don't know what it actually refers to). Like in Simon R Green's "Deathstalker" books... the books are of dubious quality, but one of the fashions is metallic hair, in which each strand of hair is coated with metal. Crazy.
Um. Offtopic.
Now, where does the cake frosting come in? Is that what is used to color hair?

I don't know about anybody else, but I am always a big fan of stylists that use the word "oxidizes"
