Poetic stab to the heart

Hmm, I can see telling a guy off at times may be necessary. Recently leafing through my English literature textbook I came across this very elegant way to do it, courtesy of English poet Christina Rosetti. So much nicer than "go away". *grin*

I think it was mean that she was so rude to him in a public hallway. Sure, let him know the truth--I'm all about the "look..no. And, never" response to love that will always be unrequited, but I try to save them the added embarrassment of witnesses to the burn.

yes, that poor kid... but it's actually far kinder than the way most of us "nice girls" have been conditioned to handle the situation. if he doesn't have a snowball's chance, don't let him mope after you forever in the name of nice and don't assume that your hints are hitting the mark against all available evidence. it's. just. cruel. sure, they'll call you a bitch, but trust me, trust me, trust me. he'll probably thank her later, if he's very bright.

*ahem* or, you know, so i've heard. *whistles innocently*

now, the kids who laughed, THOSE are the ones who should be flogged. heh.
Well....

You know, I could very very easily see myself doing that to a guy I know up here - the moron just won't GO AWAY. So possibly the girl's been trying to make this kid leave her alone for long enough that she finally gave up and snapped at him.
Oh that poor kid

That really stinks. And that girl needs some lessons on humility and social grace.
I hope the guy isn't scarred for life.
