"I also really like how he swears a lot, but it sounds so sweet because his voice is nice and the melody's pretty that it's only when you think back and go 'huh' that... *off his skeptical look* yeah, ok, I'm somewhat crushy on Ben Folds right now."
"He makes you cry!"
"Really, history would suggest I like that in a man."

*stares in starry-eyed awe at Mike* You can spit like a cobra? That's soooo cool!!! And the bravery you have to share that when you think there might be those who may be repulsed---you're so daring.

I do, actually, think that's kinda neat. The spitting thing. hee. And now I'm trying to do it. It's not working. heh. hehehehe.

C'mon, it's just a crush! You can't take it too seriously-- especially if she's sober enough to realize that she's crushing when pressed to admit it. The worst ones are those stealth crushes that make you deny it no matter how obvious it is to everyone else.

I don't recall ever having a crush on a musician. Ever. Is that strange? Lessee... when I was in the sixth grade I developed this ridiculous crush on... um, I dunno... some girl. Unfortunately, no one had ever told me how to deal with that sort of thing, so over the course of a few months I spent every lunch period just blankly and openly staring at her. Poor what's-her-name: I must've seemed psychotic.

I don't really have crushes very often anymore. When I do, it's typically one of those horrible aforementioned stealth crushes where your brain's doing a quiet little subroutine about the object-of-crush all day until you yell "Would you stop thinking about her?!?" to yourself at the top of your lungs and you were in a public place and everybody's staring at you and oh great now you're a freak.

...because that happens to everyone, right?

(Not going to talk about television-based crushes because that could get weird.)

No...not tv

because then you have to include cartoon women...
Musician crushes....well I know I wanted to nail Susanna Hoffs of " The Bangles"...
is that like a crush?

Okay, just *one* TV example

Because this thread put it in my head and it's stuck now.

About the time I hit puberty I noticed this show on PBS called "Hooked on Aerobics." It featured three people and one of them was a guy, but I only realize that in retrospect. At the time, my attention was focused entirely on the improbably proportioned pony-tailed brunette who led the other two in strenuous stretching and bouncing for half an hour every day as multiple cameras swiveled around her from every angle.

Every great once in a while she'd bring out a trampoline and...

(The strange thing about this is that now, years later, I can find no concrete record proving that the show actually existed. It's like they belatedly realized that they were drawing an unexpected demographic. Did I forget to mention that the show was taped in Provo, Utah? Ah yes, it kindled my long-standing affection for naughty hyper-curvy spandex-clad Mormon babes. Or something.)

Hey, don't look at me like that! I told you it'd turn weird.

All I'm going to say...

Heh.

Oh, and in response to your earlier question yeah, I think "crush" is different than "want to nail." Hell, the latter can apply to pretty much anything female sometimes, but a crush is more obsessive and long-lasting, I guess.

Rest assured, I will find a way! (*sigh*) I always do.

So, um, back when I had my wisdom teeth removed I temporarily gained the power to accidentally squirt a stream of saliva while chewing. Quite like a spitting cobra.

Imagine that! Sexy, yes?

Aww yeah. Undefeated crush stifler. You dare not oppose me!

Um... I don't have a crush on Mike. Or anyone else here, for that matter. Just wanted to share.

I always find it amusing when I spray saliva straight out from under my tongue. Well, unless I'm with company that wouldn't find such a thing proper. It's always an accident when it happens, by the way.

You, least of all, want to know that mental image. Let's just say that it refers to how & where you hold that deep respect & leave the rest as a mental exercise for the class.

Appropos of nothing (but hey, this in In Passing), I saw Bubba Ho-Tep the other night. Hilarious! Two big thumbs up for fans of subtle comedy. For East Bay people, I saw it at the California Theatre in Berkeley. Good times.

That's what I look for in a man. Maybe he can make her cry by swearing at her a lot. Then she would be just peachy.

Is a job that important?
Posted by Gregg on Thu, 10/16/2003 - 1:59pm.
I’ve heard about a psychology measure called the marriageable male index (or some such thing). The BIGGEST factor is having a job. Basically, if you have a job, a woman will marry you—if not, forget about it.

Oops

Heh. Sorry Gregg, that made it sound like I was talking about a job. I had a momentary problem posting this morning. That's also why I thought I was able to get FP.

I meant, "Are the comments working now?"

Oh, well..

OK, but I can't take too much time to type because I have to get back to work or my wife will leave me. :)

Seriously, I didn't think about the issue either way. I just find the job/wife (girlfriend) relationship interesting. Actually, if I were a woman, one of the first things I would look for is someone with a job or at least a strong job history (jobs are hard to come by right now in the US). If you can't hold down a job, how reliable can you be as a mate? I wouldn't blame anyone for having "job" as an important criteria.
