"Well, since you'll be dancing with more women than I will men, it makes sense for you to smell good and learn to dance. I must admit, I'm rather jealous, though."
--A 30ish woman to her male companion, walking in Union Square
Can anyone think of a situation that would make her comment make any sort of sense?

well, since men that know how to dance are few and far between, they are QUITE desired, and there is often a line of women waiting to dance with them. however, women that know how to dance are more numerous, and so it's harder to find a guy that knows how to dance to dance with. so therefore, the guy will have a MILLION girls wanted to dance with him, and the women will be lucky if she can get a dance or two with him or any guy that knows how to dance.

Its obvious. she is married, he is not.
She will be dancing with her husband, if anyone, while he will be passed around.

OR..... they could both be going to a dance/reception with a great deal of old people. Women generally live longer than men.

I can make two 'perspectives' of sense in this statement:

1. She secretly has a crush on the dude, and is jealous of all the other women that will be dancing with him.

2. She's a lesbian and is jealous because he gets to dance with a bunch of different women wherever they are going to.

So it boils down to either she digs the dude, or she's a lesbian. *look around* *shrug* *laugh*

(remember, sarcasm kills)

sounds like he's taking a dance class or going to a dance party to me. There are many where the women outnumber the men. So she's probably jealous that he has more partners available to him than she does.

i work at a club auditorium where we often have different dance classes...
where the women out number the men 10:1..
therefore the men meet alot more different women than the women meet men..

Maybe they were quoting Ionesco. It does sound like something from The Bald Soprano.

Maybe he is getting married and will be dancing with lots of women at the reception.

Or, maybe he's a dancing gigilo ... sort of a John-Travolta-meets-Richard-Gere thing.
