"I drowned 7 times!"
--Overheard in the women's bathroom in Evans Hall
And considering that condition, she looked remarkably well.

I'm guessing this was a video game-related quote. I drowned quite often when I was trying to get used to the controls for swimming in Soul Reaver. Of course, being already dead, the character didn't die from drowning. But it was very frustrating.

For the real, ugly truth about dihydrogen monoxide, see the namelink.

You're right, Billybob, you are an asshole. You're also correct in that you can asphyxiate someone with a pillow, as it means death by deprivation of oxygen. However, you have to admit that, with lungs full of water, there wouldn't be much room for oxygen, would there? Just another lethal property of dihydrogen monoxide.

Wow, and I thought Buffy was doing well with once. Myabe she's really a cat and she's trying to get to the last life (of the nine)... maybe not

i also think you are wrong.Drowning does
imply "death" by the intake of water and
asphyxiation means death by deprivation of
oxygen...not necessarily from the intake of
water. You could asphyxiate someone with a
pillow for instant.

hmmmm..I'm an asshole.

Not to be a nitpicker (though I'm obviously going to be) a person can technically drown and still live, if rescued in time. Death by drowning is actually asphyxiation (it's late, I hope I spelled that right). Drowning is just the intake of the water that will eventually suffocate you. Not to be a nitpicker about it, of course. :)

Ugh...I despise the kind of person who always has to announce how many times they *almost* died.
Just die already.
