I can clearly remember the first time I saw the Brown sisters. I had looked for years and years and finally, when I was around 12 they were down by the ferry building. My mom and I flipped out and, of course, I have my picture with them. Can you imagine, just being famous for being, well, yourself. Going about your business, shopping, hanging with your sister and suddenly, your an icon.

Personally, I hope I'm just like those two ladies when I'm older. I don't want to be the polite, humble old lady who is past her prime. I want to enjoy my last taste of life without having to worry about what other people think of me. I want an army of lawn gnomes and tacky pink flamingos displayed on my lawn and I want to give out toothpaste for Halloween. Also, I plan to wear the brightest, most vibrant outfits and delight my grandchildren with an appreciation for the newest cartoons. You have to be young at heart in this world if you want to enjoy it.

Those are the Brown twins. I forget their first
names. According to Leah Garchik in the Chron, they celebrated their birthday recently

Yeah, i've seen these twins in San Francisco before. They even have their own book out. Its crazy. My friend and I took a picture with them because, well, they are old twins who have their own book out.

The twins are famous in S.F., and are a LOT older than 65. An accidental sighting always brightens my day, though!

I think I used to see them in Toronto, or their twins. They wore Nordic hats in winter.

Really, Ada Jane? I thought they looked somewhat familiar -- what's their story? Or are they just sisters who enjoy dressing the same, and happen to have retro tastes in clothing?

the creepiest thing about them is the walking in step. they sway side to side an inordinate amount.

This is a long shot, but could they have been Ann Landers and that "Dear Abby" woman?
