All I have to say is that the Goblin King can steal my nonexistant baby brother and kidnap me any day. As long as the Goblin King is still David Bowie in tights, that is.

Well, I've heard that they do. Sometimes, though, they swap... the faerie children that the mortals get are oft called changelings.
"Midsummer Night's Dream" has an interesting example of the situation, where the King and Queen of Faerie get upset over who gets custody time with their stolen child.

I don't remember a lot being said about the faerie child raised by the mortals, but it's probably being written about before.
