"I don't know. Do you want to just go home and watch season 1 and cry?"
"No."

I don't think it was 24, although that would certainly make me cry. It might also make me behave in ways that gesture toward suicide. Last week I watched an episode for the first time, and the plot/story had more holes than the fermented curd from a neutral European country purported to be full of Nazi gold.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I vote Sex & the City as well, except the only reason you might cry is when Big and Carrie break up, but that's not really worth our tears.
I definitely cried during the 4th season when Aidan and Carrie got back together tho! Whew!

Aw. A mutual television comfort session! How... er... wait, how long is this season? Are we talking, like, "watching season one of "Family Guy" or something? 'Cause I would understand that. Except for the crying part.

I'm inclined to think they want to weep either because A) a show is ending or B) a show ended up sucking after numerous seasons.

For A maybe it's Friends or Angel. But not Frasier because everybody knows that no one cares about Frasier anymore.

For B it could be a lot of things. Buffy? X-Files? Friends again?

B =/= Family Guy

For those who don't know, or forgot, the beloved Family Guy will be reopening again thanks to the huge DVD sales and it's success on Cartoon Network. GOOOOO NEW EPISODES!

I'm thinking it was Sex and the City. Ended a few days before the quote, and the finale was quite a tearjerker. It would also explain why the guy quickly nixed the idea.

Instead of crying:

Look at me I'm fallin'
Off of a cliff now
I can still hear my mama yelling No No No
But the words mean nothing
Can't catch up to me now
And the view is so beautiful
All the way down
When I was a little boy
Suckin' juice from a bottle
Believing my perceptions were oh so real
But I don't know nothing
Still knowing nothing
Was just enough for me to know the way I feel

This is life
What a f*cked up thing we do
What a nightmare come true
Or a playground if we choose
And I choose

Look at me I'm swollen
Like a banana fish now
I'm never gonna make it out of my hole
But I keep on laughing
Doesn't really matter
There's dozens of reasons for explaining my soul
When I was a teenager
Suckin' booze with the Vatos
Discussing who was gonna live to be 21
They said they wouldn't make it
They didn't make it
We're all naked when the day is said and done

This is life
What a f*cked up thing we do
What a nightmare come true
Or a playground if we choose
And I choose

Don't know who made this all come true
But now while you're here
You just gotta do what you gotta do
Now if I wasn't such a weenie
Do you think you'd still love me
Pretending I'm an airplane on the living
Room floor
But like a lovely generator
You stand right by me
And if words were wisdom I'd be talking
Even more
So I keep on falling
As I'm looking back above me
Watching as my mama just becomes a little dot
Now I'm like DeNiro
I'm amarillo
And I'll never know when I hit the ground

The whole season?

I think I'd cry if I had to sit through an entire season of any show all at one time. Let's see, most shows (particularly the ones that might induce tears) are 1 hour long, minus 15 minutes for commercials, so about 45 minutes per episode; I think a standard season is 23 episodes (unless it's a cartoon, then it's 13 episodes, but cartoons don't generally make you cry if you're watching them voluntarily); that's 1035 minutes of viewing, or 17 hours and change. Of course, since it's season 1, it could have fewer episodes. On the other hand, if it's a cable show, there's no time lost to commercials. So...yeah, I think 17 hours in front of the TV would have me crying, all right, if only because of eye fatigue.

WEll, ACTUALLY . . .

I sat through the entire first season of 24 in one sitting. It did INDEED take about 18 hours, but it was SOOOOOO worth it (it was the first time I'd seen that season).

That should do it :)

Dare we ask why you had that video?

...Nah.

So is it Sex and the City? Angel? Maybe they're really misinterpreting the Dave Chappelle show.

Montey Python's Flying Circus. I'm sorry, I just had to throw that in with the Subject cue. For serious though, I think it could possibly be 24. That's an a-one show.

I've heard people who consider West Wing to be a tear-jerker. I guess everything makes someone cry.

Guessing the Show.

I bet the Season One show they were talking about was Six Feet Under. If there was a show that could make you cry (that has Season one out on DVD) it would be this one.
