"That fucker? No, we didn't get along, it never worked out."
"Really? Last time I talked to you, you seemed pretty into him."
"Yeah, that was until he said he wasn't really into me, and then he's all,'...but I might like you better if we slept togther.'"

He didn't like her, is that so wrong?

If she slept with him once in awhile, it would make her presence a little more tolerable.

Oh come on people. You don't make anyone like you better by sleeping with him. Or her. You're supposed to like each other first and _then_ go to bed. I dunno what it is with guys that they think they're doing a big favour for a girl if they take her, even though it's just them wanting sex without commitment. Women like feeling secure. I can see the girl's point very well, the guy was trying to push her when she wasn't ready yet. Total blackmailing. Gosh it makes me see red... =/

I love this...My sister and I say fucker all the time. It is like an inside joke. One of us says what a fucker or something like that and then we reply...You fuck-her, You brought her.

Maybe it is just a NH thing.

"...but there's something in your eyes that says maybe...that's never..."

Yeah...that's a quote from a song, "Never Say Never." Wonder if the girl who said that knew it?

You're pretty close on the lyrics to the song. The chorus is actually ...

"I might like you better if we slept together
I might like you better if we slept together
I might like you better if we slept together
But there's something in your eyes that says
Maybe that's never ...
Never say never."

In any case, the only appropriate response to such a statement is to laugh scornfully and walk away.
Sometimes "honesty" is not all it's cracked up to be.

It might also be lyrics from a song, but I don't think she was quoting it, she was quoting what the guy said. I mean, it's not exactly an original phrase, nor is is especially poetic.

The name of the group is/was "Romeo Void", fronted by Debora (sp?) Iyall (sp?). They were active in the mid-80s. I suppose someone who's at UCB would have been freshly emerged from diapers at that time.

She's quoting a song. For the life of me I can't remember who sang it now - I'm thinking 80's white girl punk - Blondie, Pretenders, something like that.

I might like you better if we slept together
I might like you better if we slept together
I might like you better if we slept together
Well, maybe, maybe, maybe

Reply to concern about guys' honesty. It wasn't his honesty it was his blackmail attempt.

So let me get this straight... Women complain that guys aren't honest and don't share their feelings, but when a guy IS honest, then he gets blown off?
