I wonder, does she identify by sight or smell?
Possible reasons
1)studying pathology (able to id by either sense & burnt anything)
2)firefighter, (see above)
3)someone who burns their clippings to prevent someone else from using them in a spell/hex (able to id fingernails & hair).
