On my last trip to Berkeley in September I saw out side a bagel shop, two paper shopping bags filled to the top with bagels and a sign that said \"Free\". I assume they were day old+ bagels they couldn\'t sell anymore and were free to anyone hungry or brave enough to take them from an open bag sitting on the sidewalk.
