Ah the lovely advantage of working for the VA system.
#1 We've been under the Privacy Act since 1974, so we only had to do about 10% effort to meet HIPAA Privacy Standards, as opposed to most community healthcare which had to do a 100-80% effort.
#2 We already started working on Security five years ago and AGAIN, we already meet nearly all HIPAA Security standards and need only do a little more work.
Plus, we provide (generally) good healthcare and pretty damn cheap drugs to our nation's vets and that includes ME! Don't believe all those darn tv shows - they always like to focus on the negative - there is a LOT of good out there.
