A few years ago (like...nine or ten), the Hudson was ranked 2nd most polluted river in the country. The lovely GE plant dumped an awful lot of PCBs into the water and then wriggled out of cleaning them up when I was in high school. However...I highly doubt your tap water was coming out of the Hudson. I don't think anyone gets their tap water out of the Hudson, or they'd be dead.
