I remember being in Las Vegas when it was 113 degrees outside and several people were planning to rent cars and go to Death Valley where it was 130 degrees. (It was a conference). The 'locals' at the meeting talked them out of it by explaining that the air conditioning wouldn't work and they stood a good chance of dying if their car overheated. You Easteners have no idea how to handle EXTREME heat. (Trust me, 113 feels like you're in an oven and it only cooled down to about 99 at night).
