I haven't the money to visit a foot doc. But my two best guesses are 1. heel spurs (the genetic trend is strong in my family) or 2. an aggravation of the tendons in the bottom of my feet. The root cause, of course, is most likely the 100+ extra pounds I carry, and I suspect I'd all around feel better if I lost them, but...easier said than done.

If there's a dealer in your area, you ought to give the Z-Coils a try. Just go in and try a pair on, walk around, see if they work for you before you lay the money down. They were developed to help with the ailments that afflict runners and other people on their feet a lot, and they're really terribly comfortable.
