My mom walked into the living room one time when my brother was just a wee lad and found him with a key stuck into one of the outlets on a power surge thingy. By divine intervention, it was the *one* outlet on there that wasn't working.
We had those plastic cover thingies on ALL outlets for the better part of about 10 years because of that.
