Okay, first off, I apologize for this being completely off-topic, and me without even a segue to defend myself, but I have a problem only the IP people can solve.
I've been reading Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett which features a character named Anathema Device. Now somewhere, hidden deep in some cavern in the back of my brain, is the knowlege of what exactly an anathema device is. But I can't find it. And I've tried every conceivable search engine on the 'net trying to find the answer, but most of the links are either for a NYC goth/punk band, or related to the aforementioned book.
