Beautiful, simple lyrics. They struck something in me the first time I heard them. I had never heard the Johnny Cash version before I learnt it in a band I was in. We played it almost Celtic and sang country-like harmonies. When I heard the recorded version it was maudlin and almost cheesy. Very slow. But those lyrics have stuck with me for 20 odd years it's still my favorite Johnny Cash song.
